Clear View Market Square

Red Deer, Alberta

As part of a multi disciplinary design team (which included DIALOG Architecture and FOCUS Engineering), LA West actively participated in establishing the development framework for this Northeast commercial district.

The site has excellent exposure and visibility, and promises to become one of Red Deer’s major retail power centres. Our roles included development permit drawings, way-finding and pedestrian master planning and, landscape architecture.

Gates of Walden

Calgary, Alberta

LA West worked closely with Abugov Kaspar to develop a cohesive and aesthetically enhanced site plan for the gateway commercial parcel located on the doorstep of one Calgary's newest residential developments - Walden.

A pedestrian oriented atmosphere with strong consideration given to Walden's contemporary character and built green roots are the principal trials of this neighborhood shopping center.

Legacy Main

Calgary, Alberta

Legacy Main will be a street oriented, pedestrian friendly commercial promenade that will form a large part of a unique, mixed-use district in the new outlying Calgary community of Legacy.

In conjunction with Gibbs Gage Architecture, LA West carried out an exhaustive pedestrian circulation and open space analysis. Incorporating Legacy Main into the 'big picture' community plan and creating a connection to the future South Gateway commercial core also proved to be an interesting and in-depth design exercise.



A detailed site plan for a new residential development, showcasing a network of winding roads, numerous building lots, and several small ponds. Green spaces and pedestrian paths weave throughout the layout.
Royal Vista Business Park

Calgary, Alberta

Already retained as Corporate Properties' landscape architects for the Royal Vista storm water retention facilities, L A West's scope was expanded to include the development and implementation of a comprehensive landscape guideline and architectural controls package for the associated business park.

L A West will have ongoing project responsibilities as the reviewing authority for Corporate Properties on new development applications within the northwest Calgary business park. Emphasis will be put on creating enhanced landscapes with storm water management benefits.



Sage Hill Crossing

Calgary, Alberta

As part of a multi disciplinary design team (which included Gibbs Gage Architecture), L A West actively participated in establishing the development framework for this expansive commercial district. Poised to be one of the biggest and most diverse business retail centres in northwest Calgary, Sage Hill Crossing is one of our largest scale projects.

Our roles included marketing analysis, way-finding and pedestrian master planning, theme development, landscape architecture and the incorporation of low impact development techniques primarily related to storm water management.



South Gateway Commercial

Calgary, Alberta

As a design tandem, LA West and Gibbs Gage have undertaken the site design and master planning of this future south Calgary power center. The unique topography of the site combined with a joint ownership group comprised of two prominent local land developers, have created many interesting design challenges that the team has tackled head on.

To date, the design efforts have been focused on the primary commercial spine entering the development with a heavy emphasis on enhancing the pedestrian experience.
